Thus, nature, tamed within the space of a garden, becomes an evocative instrument and at the same time a means to transmit ancient and profound truths. Since its origins, the garden has always been the quintessential sacred locus of vast symbolism. In the garden, where the cosmos reflects in the microcosm, the epiphany of the divine is celebrated. The sacred sentiment of nature has, since the most remote antiquity, become a tool for self-revelation.
The Renaissance and Mannerist hermetic language transform the garden into a sort of theater of memory where the ritual of mystery is celebrated.
