"Exploring the Gardens of Fiesole"For over twenty years, the Municipality of Fiesole, in collaboration with Architect Ines Romitti of AIAPP (Italian Association of Landscape Architecture), has been committed to enhancing the rich landscape, historical, cultural, and natural heritage present in the territory. Their goal is to make an increasing number of gardens associated with splendid residences visible to the public, considering them valuable for their beauty and significance. In this outreach effort, specialists in landscape architecture have been involved, conducting open-air lessons in spring and autumn, rediscovering the magic of otherwise inaccessible places. The visits have targeted a significant group of gardens within the municipal territory of Fiesole, differing due to exposure, microclimate, site, and landscape relationship.
Given the considerable public success and interest demonstrated not only by residents but also by tourists during these visits, the idea of creating this publication emerged. It is a concise guide presenting the gardens generally involved in the initiative, with the aim of providing documentation to participants, allowing them to keep alive the memories of what they learned and admired. Bibliographical references will enable further exploration for interested readers and visitors. The owners of the gardens are thanked for their kind availability and collaboration.
Starting from September, private one-day tours will resume, featuring visits to a maximum of 2 or 3 gardens.
