THE GARDENS OF KYOTOThe Temple of Jojakko-ji is not an ordinary temple; it was built on the side of a mountain amidst a famous bamboo grove. Finding it feels like an adventure, and climbing to the top seems like a workout. The view of Kyoto from the peak of Jojakko-ji Temple greatly rewards the effort.
Located in the idyllic Arashiyama district of Kyoto, Jojakko-ji Temple was constructed in the 1500s, and the journey to reach it is all uphill from its gate. Its steep staircase leads to several buildings, including a main hall and a pagoda housing a Buddha. The sites along the path provide respite from the ascent, and one of the most popular stopping points is a mossy area with bamboo directly overhead. The top of the pagoda offers an incredible view of the city, and this hidden gem of a temple undoubtedly deserves the train journey to Arashiyama.JOJAKKO-JI TEMPLE PRECINCTS
